Va por ahí dejando poesía
al torrente de seres deleitados
la princesa que dulce pretendía
el cielo alcanzar con sus dos manos
reía de la vida, ella reía
indiferente a sospechar en algo
aquello en mí que había provocado.
Valeria armaba versos que vivían
a través de un marino palpitar
la amaba en mi silencio cada día
o al leer sus fantasías de noche
sin saber qué podrían ocasionar:
kafires sin piedad me juzgarían
a vivir cautivado de tu nombre

She wanders, leaving poetry
to the torrent of delighted souls,
the princess who sweetly aspired
to reach the sky with both her hands.
She laughed at life, she laughed,
indifferent to suspecting
what she had stirred in me.
Valeria wove verses that lived
through a sailor’s throbbing heart;
I loved her in silence every day,
or when reading her fantasies at night,
not knowing what they might cause—
merciless kafires would judge me
for living captivated by her name.
