La Foto - The Picture

¿Que por qué yo no tengo una foto en mi muro?

Porque quiero evitarte un momento espantoso,
yo no quiero en tu vida un crepúsculo oscuro
o que siempre te topes con un monstruo horroroso.

Yo no quiero que veas en mis duras facciones
la razón de tus penas, el terror en tus gritos.
Yo quisiera me incluyas en tus tiernas canciones
y que tú te enamores de mis pobres escritos.

Y si un día me encuentras sin querer de algún modo
no sabrás que soy yo, más si dicen que soy
estaría dispuesto a negártelo todo.
Quiero siempre me veas como tú me ves hoy.

Soy la rana grotesca de otro cuento encantado,
y por eso no tengo una foto en mi facebook.
Quiero ser ese príncipe que aún no ha llegado,
quiero siempre me veas como ahora me ves tú.

I don’t want a dark twilight to shadow your life,  

nor that you should always meet a monstrous sight.  

I don’t want you to see in my hardened face  

the reason for your sorrow, the terror in your cries.  

I would rather you place me in your tender songs,  

and fall in love with the poverty of my lines.  

And if one day you find me by chance, unaware,  

you won’t know it is me—though they say I am there,  

I would be willing to deny it all away,  

I want you to see me as you see me today.  

I am the grotesque frog from another enchanted tale,  

and that is why no photo on my Facebook shall prevail.  

I long to be the prince who has not yet come through,  

I want you to see me as you see me now, too.
